WTM Racing has confirmed that its brand-new Ferrari 296 GT3 is set to make its 24H SERIES debut at this year’s Hankook 24H BARCELONA.

The German team has raced a Ferrari 488 GT3 since switching from Porsche machinery for 2017. In that time, WTM Racing has taken three overall podiums and secured its first overall 24H SERIES win at, fittingly, the 488’s last series event at the 2022 Hankook 24H BARCELONA.

WTM Racing’s 296 – the team’s first brand-new GT3 racer since 2017, which has adopted the team’s ‘Luigi’ moniker – is scheduled to become the first example of Ferrari’s latest flagship GT racer to contest a CREVENTIC event at this year’s Hankook 24H BARCELONA.

As in 2022, WTM Racing will be supported by Ferrari specialist Rinaldi Racing. Georg and Leonard Weiss, Jochen Krumbach, Daniel Keilwitz and Indy Dontje have also been confirmed in the German team’s 296 for this year’s Nürburgring 24 Hours. Weiss father-and-son, Krumbach and Keilwitz are also expected to take the wheel at the Circuit de Catalunya-Barcelona.

“With the new Ferrari 296 GT3, we have a GT vehicle that is state-of-the-art,” team principal Georg Weiss explains. “But that also means a lot of coordination work at the beginning of the season. We're delighted that our partner Rinaldi Racing can collect double data and experience with another Ferrari project on the Nordschleife. That should help us for the 24-hour race…

“We're looking forward to the season and hope to splurge champagne on several occasions!”

This year’s Hankook 24H BARCELONA closes out CREVENTIC’s 2023 European season on 15-16-17 September.
