Renowned German squad Herberth Motorsport will mount a challenge for victory with its Porsche 911 GT3 R (992) in the hands of familiar quartet Ralf Bohn, Constantin Dressler and twin brothers, owners of Herberth, Alfred and Robert Renauer.
Audi will be represented by United Arab Emirates-based Continental Racing by Simpson Motorsport, with its trusty Audi R8 LMS GT3 EVO II piloted by Vasily Vladykin, Alexander Bukhantsov, Damian Ciosek and James Winslow – the latter a multiple champion in GT racing and single-seaters.
There will also be a third Mercedes-AMG GT3 EVO on the grid, the No.93 car fielded by Ajith Red Ant Racing. Running under an Indian entry, the car will be raced by Tamil actor Ajith Kumar, Belgian brothers Ayrton and Yannick Redant and compatriot Kobe de Breucker.
There are five Porsche 911 GT3 Cup (992) cars which will battle in the 992 class, with Hong Kong’s Modena Motorsports challenging with Dutchman Francis Tjia, Denmark’s Benny Simonsen and Canadian duo John Shen and Christian Chia. China’s 610 Racing will field the all-Chinese quintet of Cao QiKuan, Zhang Yaqi, Lu Zhiwei, Li Lin and Yang Haojie in its Porsche.
Experienced Michelin 24H SERIES regulars Red Camel-Jordans.nl and Mühlner Motorsport will be on the grid, the latter fielding two cars in the class. Dutch squad Red Camel will be represented by racing brothers Luc and Rik Breukers along with their father Ivo.
Mühlner’s No.921 car has Valters Zviedris joined by Eric Kwong, Jiatong Liang and Bayley Hall. One of the drivers for the Belgian team's No.918 Porsche 911 GT3 Cup (992) has been confirmed as Paul Meijer, with the remainder of the line up still to be announced.
Germany’s Team Sorg Rennsport will challenge on two fronts, in both the GT4 and TCE-TCX classes, entering a Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS Clubsport (982) in the former and a Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 CS (982) in the latter. Only the squad’s GT4 line-up has been confirmed thus far, which features Ivan Stanchin, Ivan Krapivtsev and Benito Tagle.
Also running in GT4 will be German team Cerny Motorsport, with its BMW M4 GT4 (G82) piloted by American drivers Alec Udell and Spencer Propper alongside Australian pair Damien John Hamilton and Bryce Fullwood.
In the TCE-TCX class, German team asBest Racing – reigning class champions of the Middle East Trophy – has entered its Cupra TCR DSG for Germany’s Lutz Obermann and Pia Ohlsson and Japan’s Junichi Umemoto. The team will also be running a SEAT Leon Cup Racer, but the driver line-up remains unconfirmed.
Last, but certainly not least, Michelin 24H SERIES regulars Vortex V8 will race in GTX with one of its potent Vortex 2.0 cars. French trio Lionel Amrouche, Philippe Bonnel and Victor Moutinho will pilot the entry.
Renowned as one of the world’s premier race tracks, Sepang International Circuit will provide an incredible spectacle for round one of the Michelin 24H SERIES Middle East Trophy. At a length of 5.5-kilometres, with 15 turns, the famous venue always provides great racing – with some significant overtaking opportunities – and a superb start to the Middle East Trophy is guaranteed.
Following two CR Track Days on Wednesday, 3 December, and Thursday, 4 December, qualifying for the Michelin 12H MALAYSIA will begin at 16.00 local time on Friday, 5 December, with all classes running together across the three sessions. There will also be a night practice session.
On Saturday, 6 December, racing will get underway at 10.00 local time with all of the action, including qualifying, to be screened live online at Creventic Motorsports TV on YouTube. Links for streaming and live timing will be available at www.24hseries.com
