The 24H SERIES season finale at the Autodromo Internazionale del Mugello now has over 25 entries, and counting, including a bolstered ‘991’ field, heightened competition in both ‘GT3’ and ‘TCR’, and three prototypes in the ‘PX’ class.
With just over one week to go until race day, entries continue to rise for the season-closing 2020 Hankook 12H MUGELLO on 13-14 November.
The Tuscan Grand Prix venue has hosted CREVENTIC’s European season opener on all but two occasions since 2014 and has been on the calendar every year since then, 2018 permitting. Now, with just over one week to go before the green flag drops at the Autodromo Internazionale del Mugello, the 2020 Hankook 12H MUGELLO is creeping ever-closer to a 30-car grid, three of which could compete in the ‘PX’ prototype category.
Bolzano-based MP Racing (#58), incredibly, will start its third ‘home race’ of the season in Mugello in its maiden 24H SERIES campaign. The Italian team, which has registered Gostner family members Thomas, David, Corinna and Manuela aboard a Mercedes-AMG GT3 Evo for Mugello, finished an impressive 4th overall at the inaugural Hankook 12H MONZA behind the Herberth Motorsport trio, following that up with its first category podium at the COPPA FLORIO 12H Sicily.
24H SERIES mainstay Speed Lover has also registered an additional two cars for the 2020 Hankook 12H MUGELLO. The Belgian squad heads into next weekend’s Hankook 12H MUGELLO in contention for the Overall GT Teams’ championship in the 24H SERIES Europe standings, and has now bolstered it chances with a second Porsche 911-II Cup (#979) alongside the sister #978 entry for Eric Mouez, Olivier Dons and Rolf Lietart. Interestingly, the Belgian outfit will also compete for the first time in the TCE division having entered a Type 981 Porsche Cayman GT4 CS (#207) in the TCX class.
Alongside Speed Lover, series newcomer BlitzWolf by Willi Motorsport (#955) has entered a Porsche 911-II Cup in the ‘991’ class. This marks the first time Romania’s Sergiu Nicolae and Italy’s Fabrizio Broggi, who will race alongside debutant Mihai Zamfir, has entered a 24H SERIES event since the 2018 Hankook 24H BARCELONA.
NKPP Racing by Bas Koeten Racing (#175) joins the ‘TCR’ ranks with a CUPRA TCR for Harry Hilders and Gijs Bessem. The long-time 24H SERIES competitor, which took a shock outright win at the 2020 Hankook 16H HOCKENHEIMRING, will face off against long-time rivals Red Camel-Jordans.nl (#101), as well as AC Motorsport (#188) and Autorama Motorsport by Wolf-Power Racing (#112). The latter two are split by just a single point in the fight for the Overall TCE Teams’ title in the 24H SERIES Continents.
The prototype-focused ‘PX’ class has also received interest ahead of the 2020 Hankook 12H MUGELLO. Avelon Formula (#45), which led the opening 40 laps of last month’s COPPA FLORIO 12H Sicily, has registered its tenured Wolf GB08 Tornado, and is set to be joined Lissone-based Emotion Motorsport in all-Italian affair. The latter is set to compete with two Wolf GB08 CNs (#52 and #53).
Other notable entrants confirmed for the 2020 Hankook 12H MUGELLO prior to this week include Herberth Motorsport (#91 and #92), which is in contention for the Overall GT Teams title in both the ‘Europe’ and ‘Continents’ divisions, and its nearest championship rivals PROsport Racing (#401) and Team Avia Sorg Rennsport (#451). Italy’s own EBIMOTORS (#473), a former three-time winner in the 24H SERIES, is also set to make its first race start with CREVENTIC since 2018.
Entries are still being accepted for the 2020 Hankook 12H MUGELLO as well as our 2021 events, further details of which you’ll find in the link below.
