•    Michelin 24H SERIES racing to visit the continent of Africa for the first time

Gennep, Netherlands (18 September 2026):
Creventic endurance racing will visit the continent of Africa for the first time in the history of the Michelin 24H SERIES early next year, when the annual Michelin 24H DUBAI moves location to the spectacular Kyalami Grand Prix Circuit across the weekend 8/9/10 January.

Due to the ongoing uncertainty within the Gulf region, and the impact therefore on the cost of logistics and reliable transport planning, organisers at Creventic – in close partnership with the associated venues – have reached the decision to adjust the upcoming winter calendar. 

This has been a significant and very difficult conclusion to reach for all involved, not least the fact the Michelin 24H DUBAI is such an important part of Creventic motorsport and has been for 20 years. Now, Creventic makes history with the first international 24 hour race within South Africa. 

The twice-round-the-clock Dubai race which was scheduled from 8-10 January 2027 will now be contested at Kyalami, bringing an incredibly exciting new opportunity for Creventic, drivers and teams. The previously announced Middle East races in Abu Dhabi, one in December and one in January, are being postponed until the 2027/2028 campaign.

Kyalami is undoubtedly one of the most impressive motorsport facilities in global racing. The arrival of Michelin 24H SERIES action early in the New Year will mark the return of international endurance competition to the famous Midrand circuit for the first time since 2023. 

Happily, Creventic has been welcomed with open arms by the organising team at Kyalami and is thrilled with the opportunity to race at such a fantastic track. Indeed, Creventic is very impressed by the circuit itself and the superb facilities. 

Situated roughly equidistant between Johannesburg and Pretoria, Kyalami Grand Prix Circuit has a long and storied history having most famously hosted the FIA Formula One World Championship on 20 occasions. Undergoing a significant multi-million Rand redevelopment around 10 years ago, the venue has incredible, state-of-the-art facilities and a superb 4.52-kilometre FIA Grade 2 circuit.

Highly regarded as a technically demanding track, with a mixture of elevation changes, blind crests and fast, flowing sequences, Kyalami will present a fantastic new challenge for the competitors of the Michelin 24H SERIES. Situated approximately 1,500 meters above sea level, the anti-clockwise circuit takes its name from the local Zulu language – Kyalami meaning ‘my home’.

Alongside the outstanding modern facilities at the track, which include 40 secure, modern pit garages and the Jody Scheckter Paddock, the organisation at the venue is highly professional and everyone is guaranteed an incredibly warm welcome from the Kyalami team. 

Of course, South Africa has so much to experience and so away from the track there is a huge amount to enjoy. From the rich cultural heritage and local landmarks through to the amazing wildlife and nature reserves, add in some retail therapy too with some major shopping destinations. All of this, combined with the race itself, makes for an outstanding trip. 

Highlights include Kyalami Country Club, a superb 18-hole golf course, the architectural splendour of the Union Buildings in Pretoria, Nelson Mandela Square in Sandton, the Broederstroom Lion and Safari Park and the Johannesburg Botanical Gardens.

Amazingly, South Africa is home to over 250 species of mammal and 850 bird species. Giraffe, Lions, Rhino, African Elephant, Cape Buffalo, Leopards, Cheetah and, of course, the nation’s national animal, the Springbok, are just some of the wonderful wildlife which call the region home.

For January’s race meeting, competitors and teams will have plenty of time in which to prepare for qualifying and the big 24-hour race with three CR Track Days to take place on the preceding Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. Importantly, race registrations are open now!
