Hockenheim 2022 magazine now available for download

News | May 9, 2022

Our magazine for the 2022 Hankook 12H HOCKENHEIMRING is now available for digital download. This month, we take a look back at one of the most extraordinary moments in 24H SERIES history, last year’s TCE finish between Autorama Motorsport by Wolf-Power Racing and AC Motorsport. We also take a look at CREVENTIC recent – and unexpected! – crossover with World Rallycross, and the respective 24H SERIES debuts of European champion Andreas Bakkerud, and four-time world champion Johan Kristofferson.

All that and more in this month’s magazine.

Just a few weeks after a standout battle in the Ardennes, the 24H SERIES is already looking ahead to its fourth championship round of the season, hosted this weekend at the acclaimed Hockenheimring. And what a championship fight 2022 is already turning out to be.

Fresh from its recent win at Spa-Francorchamps, Phoenix Racing now leads the GT3 standings, albeit by just five points over CP Racing. BBR faces new competition from Holmgaard Motorsport at the top of the TCR ranks, while Germany’s Leipert Motorsport – a former outright podium finisher at the Hankook 12H HOCKENHEIMRING – will be looking to steal a march in the GTX class on home turf. As for the 992 categories, it truly is anybody’s game.

Don’t be too surprised then to see this weekend’s 12-hour event at Hockenheimring throw a few curve balls, as has indeed been the case in the past at Baden-Württemberg (radiolemans.com’s Joe Bradley discusses this very subject HERE). The inaugural edition for example, held in an exploratory 16-hour format in 2020, marked the first time a ‘991’ entrant took outright victory at a 24H SERIES event, while Autorama Motorsport by Wolf-Power Racing and AC Motorsport produced the series’ closest ever TCE finish at the circuit in 2021. A topic on which series staple Stéphane Perrin looks back HERE.

Alongside a breakdown of our European and Championship of the Continents standings, new fans of the 24H SERIES may also be interested to learn that the world of endurance racing has enjoyed an intriguing crossover with rallycross over the past couple of months. In April, reigning European Rallycross champion Andreas Bakkerud competed in his first 12-hour endurance race at Spa-Francorchamps, while four-time World Rallycross champion Johan Kristofferson – another 24H SERIES debutant – was on the grid with CREVENTIC back in March for his first race in Mugello in nine years. If you’re also partial to some LMP3 action, our ‘Snapshot!’ highlights the inaugural round of the new Prototype Cup Germany, the next three events of which will be hosted at the Nürburgring, the Lausitzring, and the Hockenheimring in July, August and October respectively.

We’ve a feeling though that round four of the 24H SERIES will provide more than its fair share of racing entertainment this weekend, so find a deep seat and be sure to keep an eye on our official social media channels for live coverage of the 2022 Hankook 12H HOCKENHEIMRING.
