Major, ongoing safety concerns regarding Houthi rebel activity in the Bab El Mandab Strait mean major shipping lines have been forced to divert cargo away from the affected area. As a result, and in the interests of safety, containers for the Hankook 24H DUBAI will now take an alternate route around South Africa to avoid potential attacks. Unavoidably detained in transit, the containers are now scheduled to arrive in the United Arab Emirates on 16 January.
While this is a difficult decision to make, CREVENTIC is confident the short delay is in the best interests of all parties concerned to ensure a successful running of the Hankook 24H DUBAI in its 19th iteration.
CREVENTIC would like to apologize to its competitors and myriad supporters for these unprecedented circumstances, and would like to assure everyone that the team is working closely with its logistics partners to ensure a smooth transition hereafter.
CREVENTIC would also like to thank the Dubai Autodrome for its continued assistance and flexibility to get the largest 24H SERIES powered by Hankook event of the season underway as soon as possible.
Peter Freij, CREVENTIC operational manager: “The Hankook 24H DUBAI holds great importance for CREVENTIC, and we are committed to making the event a success, despite the unforeseen circumstances. We encourage every team and partner’s support for the last-minute challenges and believe that, together, we can overcome these obstacles.”
The Hankook 6H ABU DHABI will remain unaffected, and will continue to be run on 20-21 January, now one week ahead of the Hankook 24H DUBAI. As a result, CREVENTIC’s flagship race will now close out the 2023/2024 24H SERIES Middle East Trophy.
