· Three former Hankook 24H DUBAI race winners on the 2024 grid.
· Bentley, Ferrari, McLaren and Lotus among 14 brands represented.
· McLaren Artura GT4 on course to make 24-hour racing debut with CREVENTIC.
GENNEP (7 November, 2023) – There’s still two months to go before CREVENTIC’s biggest endurance race of the year, but the 2024 Hankook 24H DUBAI could be among the closest editions in recent memory as entry numbers continue to grow.
Being held for the 19th time at the Dubai Autodrome on 12-13-14 January, the Hankook 24H DUBAI already has 70-plus cars featured on its provisional entry list, including more than a dozen reigning/former 24H SERIES powered by Hankook champions, and three overall winners of the Hankook 24H DUBAI. In short, the provisional grid for one of the biggest endurance events of every New Year has already received entries from close to 50 teams representing 14 manufacturers, including 20 992 entrants and a mighty 34 challengers in the GT3 class.
· Former overall winners Herberth Motorsport, Car Collection Motorsport and Land-Motorsport set to do battle once again.
· Five-time class winner Dragon Racing back in GT3 with new Ferrari 296.
After its long-awaited return at the Hankook 24H BARCELONA, 2019 Hankook 24H DUBAI winner Car Collection Motorsport has lined up a three-car entry for the 12-13-14 January weekend. Alongside two 992-generation Porsche 911 GT3 Rs, the German outfit will also run its established Audi R8 LMS GT3 EVO II.
With momentum on its side after a first season with the 992-generation Porsche 911 GT3 R, 2017 event winner – and 2017 Overall GT Teams’ ‘Continents’ champion – Herberth Motorsport will eye a repeat of, if not an improvement on, a close-fought runners-up spot at this year’s Hankook 24H DUBAI.
Following its first outing in the 24H SERIES in seven years, 2009 24H DUBAI winner Land Motorsport – the third overall event winner in the GT3 class – has confirmed its Audi R8 LMS GT3 EVO II for Dubai, ahead, potentially, of another full European campaign.
2021 Overall GT Teams’ champion ST Racing is set to make its return to the 24H SERIES with its BMW M4 GT3. The Canadian outfit made its first GT3 start at the 2022 Hankook 24H DUBAI before going on to secure the model’s first-ever 12-hour race win two months later in Mugello.
BMW’s nemesis Mercedes meanwhile will be well-represented on the grid. Reigning GT Continents Trophy winner CP Racing for example, with two consecutive GT3-Am wins in Dubai already under its belt, will be eying a third in 2024 with its AMG GT3. Hofor-Racing has also entered a Mercedes-AMG for, what will be, its first Hankook 24H DUBAI outing since 2019. The Swiss team took A6-Am class victory at the event in 2017 en-route to that year’s Overall GT Teams’ ‘Europe’ title.
The returning Heart of Racing by SPS took class podiums on its two previous Dubai outings in 2022 (GT3-P/A) and 2021 (GT4), and the two-time GT3-Am class winner in 2023 will be looking for its first event victory. Just as The Netherlands’ MP Motorsport, winner of GT3-P/A in 2022 and GT3-Am in 2020, will be gunning for a third.
Newly-crowned GT3 Teams’ champion Haas RT is set to return to the event at which it made its motor racing debut in 2023 with a newly-extended, two-car Audi R8 LMS GT3 EVO II line-up. The Antiguan team, which took its first series win earlier this year in Mugello, stole headlines by finishing 5th overall in Dubai and even leading outright on its first-ever race start.
Another first time winner in 2023, Saintéloc (the French outfit reigned supreme at this year’s Hankook 12H SPA-FRANCORCHAMPS) has also registered two Audi R8s for its fifth start at the Hankook 24H DUBAI.
Five-time class winner Dragon Racing will make its return to the event’s GT3 category for the first time since 2016. The Emirati-team, based at the Dubai Autodrome itself, will do so with at least one of Ferrari’s new 296 GT3s. Significantly, Dragon Racing secured its best-ever result in Dubai – 3rd overall in 2015 – with the prancing horse.
Like Dragon Racing, Manamauri Energy by Ebimotors and Huber Motorsport also make the step across to GT3 in Dubai. The newly-re-branded ‘Willi Motorsport’, fresh from its successful 992 Teams’ European title win this year, has confirmed it will contest the 2024 Hankook 24H DUBAI with a new Porsche 992 GT3 R, as will 2023 992-Am winner, Huber Motorsport.
The returning Saalocin by Kox Racing meanwhile will enter a 991.2 generation Porsche GT3 R for its second crack at the Hankook 24H DUBAI. The eponymous outfit of Le Mans class winner Peter Kox finished 2nd in-class at this year’s event, one year on from its overall podium finish at the 2022 Hankook 6H ABU DHABI. Coincidentally, this year’s Hankook 6H ABU DHABI winner Pure Rxcing will also compete at its second Hankook 24H DUBAI with a Porsche 992 GT3 R.
Britain’s 7TSIX made its 24-hour race debut at the 2023 Hankook 24H DUBAI, impressing with GT3-AM pole position and a determined fight for class victory. The British team transitions from its McLaren 720S GT3 to a Mercedes-AMG GT3 Evo for the 2024 event. Australia’s Grove Racing similarly impressed on its own 24H SERIES debut this year, securing a top four finish with the same Porsche 911 GT3 R it will run in 2024.
In contrast, Attempto Racing is set to make its 17th event start, doing so with an Audi R8 LMS GT3 EVO II. A former overall top five finisher, the German team has competed at every Hankook 24H DUBAI since 2008.
Greystone GT, Getspeed, CSA Racing and Modena Silverstone Ltd are gearing up for their 24H SERIES debuts in Dubai with a McLaren 720S GT3, a Mercedes-AMG GT3 Evo, an Audi R8 LMS GT3, and an Aston Martin AMR GT3 respectively.
Team Parker Racing completes the GT3 field so far, bringing Bentley back to the 24H SERIES in the process. The British marque’s Continental GT3 was last in action at the Hankook 12H SPA-FRANCORCHAMPS in 2022, and even secured a front row start.
· One of the strongest 24H SERIES showings yet for 992.
· Can event staples HRT Performance, FACH AUTO TECH or MRS GT-Racing take another victory?
CREVENTIC will celebrate its strongest 992 field yet at the Hankook 24H DUBAI, with 20 entries already registered.
One of several teams with a multi-car ‘992’ entry for Dubai, event mainstay HRT Performance has registered three Porsche 992 GT3 Cups. The German team, a race regular for more than a decade, has been on a roll recently in Dubai, netting its first category win in 2022 as well as double class podiums in 2022 and 2023.
MRS GT-Racing, another Hankook 24H DUBAI pillar, has also registered three cars for Dubai. In addition to a Porsche 991.2 GT3 R that will race in the top tier, the German team, a former class winner in both GT4 and 991, has two entries in the 992 class. Impressively, MRS GT-Racing finished the race with at least one car on the podium from 2018 to 2021.
Similarly, FACH AUTO TECH – like MRS GT-Racing, a race regular since 2011 – will look to repeat its commanding 1-2 finish this year in 992 with a two-car Porsche 992 GT3 Cup entry. The returning FULGENZI RACING and SebLajoux Racing have also confirmed two-car entries, the former in only its third start with CREVENTIC since 2020, the latter in a second consecutive collaborative effort with former CUP1 Teams’ champion DUWO Racing.
Reigning TCR Teams’ champion Holmgaard Motorsport makes the move to the 992 class for the first time in Dubai after a successful final outing for the Danish team’s CUPRA Leon Competición in 2023. Reigning 992-AM Teams’ champion RPM Racing will hope to replicate its class wins this year in Monza, Estoril and Barcelona on its Hankook 24H DUBAI debut.
KKrämer Racing is the final 992 entry received so far. The German team is set to make its debut with CREVENTIC in Kuwait in December, following that up with a two-Porsche 992 GT3 Cup entry for Dubai and, potentially, a one-car entry for the Hankook 6H ABU DHABI on 20-21 January.
· Brand-new Vortex ‘2.0’ to make Hankook 24H DUBAI debut.
· Lotus is back on the grid!
2019 Overall GT Teams’ ‘Continents’ champion Leipert Motorsport is set to headline the GTX class on 12-13-14 January. The German outfit, also the 2022 GTX Teams’ champion, is a three-time class winner at the Hankook 24H DUBAI, and will hope to add a fourth with either its GTX-entered Lamborghini Huracán Super Trofeo or its new, GT3-registered, Huracán GT3 EVO2.
Hoping to successfully defend its GTX Middle East Trophy title, razoon – more than racing has entered the full, three-round campaign in 2023/2024 with its KTM X-BOW GTX, starting with next month’s Hankook 12H KUWAIT on 8-9 December. En-route to the title, the Austrian team took a commanding GTX win in Dubai in 2023.
Legendary British marque Lotus will be represented on the Hankook 24H DUBAI grid for the first time since 2020 with the returning Lotus PB Racing. Entering an Exige V6 Cup R once again, the Italian outfit took a double ‘A3’ podium on its event debut back in 2019.
Toro Verde is also gearing up for its event return in January. The British team debuted at the 2023 event in a collaborative entry with 2015 24H SERIES champion Duel Racing, but flies solo in January with a Ginetta G56 in the GTX class and a sister Porsche 992 GT3 Cup in ‘992.’
2021 GTX Teams’ ‘Europe’ champion Vortex V8 rounds out the GTX field thus far, having confirmed that at least one of the brand-new, ‘2.0’ editions of its lightweight sportscar, unveiled for the first time earlier this year in Barcelona, will compete in Dubai.
· A Toyota on the Hankook 24H DUBAI grid for first time in NINE years.
· Three-way, BMW M4 fight between former class winners?
Simpson Motorsport, which aligns with ‘BMW AGMC Racing’ for the 2024 Hankook 24H DUBAI, is one of several teams to have entered a ‘G82’ edition BMW M4 GT4. Winner of the exploratory Hankook 3X3H DUBAI prototype race in 2018, the British team finished on the GT4 podium in 2023 ahead of compatriot Century Motorsport, the latter of which has also registered a second-generation M4. A double GT4 podium finisher in 2020, as well as the race’s SP3-class winner in 2016, Century Motorsport will make its GT3 class debut at the event with a BMW M4 GT3.
The final BMW representative in GT4, Fun-M Motorsport transitions to the GT4 class for its first event entry since 2021. Impressively, in its three Hankook 24H DUBAIs to-date, the German team won on its debut – CUP1 in 2019 – and finished its most recent on the TCX podium.
Toyota will make its first appearance at the Hankook 24H DUBAI (as a manufacturer) for the first time since 2015 courtesy of series newcomer, Continental Racing. The Emirati team is lining up a full Middle East Trophy campaign with its Supra GT4, an example of which made its maiden 24H SERIES start at this year’s Hankook 12H SPA-FRANCORCHAMPS.
Finally, series debutant DTO Motorsport is on course to make 24H SERIES history in Dubai, having registered McLaren’s brand-new Artura GT4 for its first 24-hour race.
AC Motorsport and Wolf-Power Racing continue their long-standing rivalry on 12-13-14 January, with both entering one Audi RS 3 LMS TCR apiece. After a rejuvenating class win at this year’s Hankook 24H BARCELONA, three-time Overall TCE Teams’ champion Wolf-Power will be keen to replicate its 2019 TCE win in January, just as AC Motorsport will hope to add to its 2020 and 2023 TCE victories. Tantalizingly, since 2019, neither team has finished outside the TCR’s top five in Dubai.
2020 Overall GT Teams’ ‘Continents’ champion Sorg Rennsport is lining up for its 12th entry at the Hankook 24H DUBAI with a 982-generation Porsche 718 Cayman CS, and will be eyeing a hattrick of class wins following previous triumphs in CUP1 (2017) and TCX (2023). The German team is also preparing a Porsche 992 GT3 Cup for the 992 class.
Series returnee CWS Engineering has registered two Ginetta G55s in the TCX class. With a recuperated Colin White at the helm, the former SP3 and TCX Teams’ champion will hope to fling the monkey from its back and secure its first win at the Hankook 24H DUBAI since 2018.
