Le Mans class winner Nico Prost is set to make his 24H SERIES powered by Hankook debut in Dubai aboard Ginetta’s developmental Ginetta G56 GT3 Cup.

The 2014 class victor and Formula E race winner completes the driver line-up for Toro Verde GT, which has registered entries for both the upcoming Hankook 6H ABU DHABI on 20-21 January and the Hankook 24H DUBAI on 26-27-28 January. The latter of which rounds out CREVENTIC’s 2023/2024 24H SERIES Middle East Trophy.

Prost, son of four-time Formula 1 World Champion Alain, will race alongside Ginetta CEO Lawrence Tomlinson (also a Le Mans class winner, in 2006 with Team LNT), the latter’s son Freddie, and Ginetta works driver Mike Simpson, all three of whom raced the developmental G56 GT3 Cup on its competitive debut at December’s Hankook 12H KUWAIT.

Not only will this mark Prost’s debut at the Hankook 24H DUBAI, it also marks the Frenchman’s first 24-hour race since his 10th run at Le Mans in 2017, with Rebellion Racing. Recently, Prost has competed in the Ultimate Cup Series, securing ‘Challenge Monoplace’ honours in both 2021 and 2022.

“I am really delighted to join Ginetta for the [Hankook] 24H DUBAI,” Nico Prost explains. “It will be great racing with Lawrence, Freddie and Mike. It’s been a long time since my last 24 hour race but I am really motivated and will prepare very hard for it as we want to get a great result there.”

Toro Verde heads into the Hankook 6H ABU DHABI on top in the GTX Teams’ standings in the 24H SERIES Middle East Trophy, following the Ginetta’s maiden win in Kuwait. Spoken about in detail HERE by Ginetta CEO Lawrence Tomlinson, the G56 GT3 Cup benefitted from mechanical issues for both of its principal rivals in Kuwait razoon – more than racing and Vortex V8, the former suffering electrical issues and ABS failure (as well as a heavy accident during Free Practice) en-route to 2nd in-class, the latter tripped up by an alternator issue and a small fire on the competitive debut of the brand-new Vortex 2.0. By comparison, the Ginetta G56 GT3 Cup’s only issue came at two-thirds distance when the power steering sprung an oil leak.

Alongside its Ginetta, Toro Verde GT has also registered a Porsche 992 GT3 Cup for the 992 class. This will be driven by Frazer McFadden and Edward Stanton, who most recently competed with Toro Verde in the Porsche Carrera Cup GB and Sprint Challenge GB respectively.
