SPS automotive performance reveals livery for 12H CIRCUIT PAUL RICARD

Former Hankook 24H DUBAI class winner SPS automotive performance brings a fresh new look to its 24H SERIES return this weekend at the Hankook 24H DUBAI.

SPS automotive performance has revealed the new livery that will adorn the German team’s Mercedes-AMG GT3 on its return to the 24H SERIES this weekend at the Hankook 12H CIRCUIT PAUL RICARD.

Swiss watchmaker Richard Mille remains among the most prominent sponsor with its logos adorning the Mercedes’ driver and passenger-side flanks, rear bumper and roof. The branding of new sponsor Carrera meanwhile, synonymous with slot car and remote control car racing since 1963, are positioned across the car’s rear spoiler, rear bumper and bonnet. Fittingly, the AMG GT3 now features a more vibrant red and white livery in-keeping with Carrera’s corporate colours.

SPS automotive performance has also confirmed that team mainstay Valentin Pierburg will be partnered with Steffen Görig and Christian Hook as part of an all-German line-up. Following two previous outings with Herberth Motorsport, the first of which ended with 2nd overall at the 2020 Hankook 12H MONZA, this weekend’s Hankook 12H CIRCUIT PAUL RICARD marks the first race for Görig with SPS automotive performance. Hook meanwhile will make his first start in the 24H SERIES this weekend since his run at the 2019 Hankook 12H MUGELLO aboard the Rinaldi Racing Ferrari 488 GT3.

A frontrunner on its previous 24H SERIES outings, SPS automotive performance is also anticipating a strong result in Le Castellet.

“We are pleased to be a guest of the 24H SERIES again,” explains team principal Stephan Sohn. “We have already done some testing at Paul Ricard this year and want to use that experience to achieve a good result.”

On its previous 24H SERIES outing, SPS automotive performance finished a solid 7th overall at the rain-shortened Hankook 24H DUBAI in 2020, an event at which the German team took A6-AM victory in 2018. The team also took class victory later that same season at the 2018 Hankook 12H SPA, though the event is arguably more notable for SPS’s outright pole position, secured over Scuderia Praha by a preposterously slim 0.006s!

On its three previous outings with CREVENTIC at Circuit Paul Ricard to-date, SPS automotive performance’s best result was in 2016, when the Mercedes SLS AMG GT3 started on the front row and finished 4th overall and 3rd in the A6-Pro class
