It’s go time! Following months of preparation, the second Hankook 12H KUWAIT will be held this weekend at Kuwait Motor Town, kicking off the returning 24H SERIES Middle East Trophy in the process. After the opening ‘flyaway’ race in Kuwait, the three-race, UAE-based program thereafter incorporates CREVENTIC’s biggest race of the year – the Hankook 24H DUBAI – and the Hankook 6H ABU DHABI across the winter of 2023/2024, with several teams this weekend starting their Middle East Trophy campaigns in Kuwait.

Our Spotters’ Guide for the 2023 Hankook 12H KUWAIT is now available to download below.

Reigning GT Continents Trophy winner, and overall winner of last year’s Hankook 12H KUWAIT, CP Racing is set to lead the GT3 field this weekend, and will hope to pull the double with its Mercedes-AMG GT3. The American team has also confirmed it will contest CREVENTIC’s full European season in 2024, starting with the Hankook 12H MUGELLO on 22-23-24 March.

Having made its first start with its then brand-new Porsche 992 GT3 Cup in Kuwait last year, the newly rebranded ‘Manamauri Energy by Ebimotors’ is ready to make the next jump to GT3 competition for the maiden event for its new Porsche 992 GT3 R. The reigning 992 Teams’ ‘Europe’ champion impressed with a run to 2nd in 992 and 4th overall first time out last year, a result that helped the Romanian-Italian team secure 992 Middle East Trophy honours in 2022/2023.

Century Motorsport rounds out the GT3 entrants thus far. The British team took GT4 class victory last year in Kuwait – a precursor to its GT4 Middle East Trophy win – and is set to start its maiden CREVENTIC program in the GT3 class with a BMW M4 GT3.

Fittingly, last year’s 992 event class winner Red Camel-Jordans.nl, who also finished 3rd overall at the 2022 Hankook 12H KUWAIT, will be back in action, as will series returnee Fulgenzi Racing, which has entered a Porsche 992 GT3 Cup on behalf of the United Arab Emirates’ Rabdan Motorsport. Enrico Fulgenzi’s eponymous outfit is on course to make its first start with CREVENTIC since this year’s Hankook 12H MUGELLO.

KKrämer Racing, a two-time class winner of the Nürburgring 24 Hours, is gearing up for its first start with CREVENTIC. The German team has also expressed an interest in a full Middle East Trophy program.

Razoon – More Than Racing and Vortex V8 are set to continue their 2023 rivalry in GTX at the Hankook 12H KUWAIT. The Austrian team comes into the event as the reigning GTX Middle East Trophy winner, having secured class wins in Dubai and Abu Dhabi, and will once again run its KTM X-BOW GTX. Vortex meanwhile, the GTX Teams’ champion of 2021, will compete for the first time with its brand-new ‘Vortex 2.0’ after the model’s unveil at the Hankook 24H BARCELONA

In Kuwait, Toro Verde will make its first start since collaborating with former series champion Duel Racing earlier this year in Dubai. The British team will do so in the GTX category with a Ginetta G56 Cup, and is already in talks to enter a second car – a Porsche 992 GT3 Cup – at both Dubai and Abu Dhabi.

Alongside its GT3 entry, Century Motorsport has confirmed its second-generation BMW M4 GT4 will compete for GT4 honours once again in Kuwait. Among the British team’s closest rivals will be compatriot Simpson Motorsport, which has entered a ‘G82’ BMW M4 GT4 – under the ‘AGMC Racing’ banner – and an Audi RS 3 LMS TCR for its first start since Mugello.

Like Toro Verde in GTX, the returning CWS Engineering will represent Ginetta on the grid – as is tradition – with a G55 in the TCX class. Colin White’s eponymous outfit, a former SP3 and TCX Teams’ champion, last competed with CREVENTIC at the Hankook 12H SPA-FRANCORCHAMPS, and has shown an interest in contesting the full Middle East Trophy campaign.

Hankook 12H KUWAIT. Did you know…?

·      The 2022 Hankook 12H KUWAIT was the first international motor race to ever be held at Kuwait Motor Town, which opened just three years earlier. It was also the opening round of CREVENTIC’s inaugural Middle East Trophy, a three-round national program that included the Hankook 24H DUBAI and the Hankook 6H ABU DHABI.

·      Kuwait Motor Town became the 23rd different circuit to host an official CREVENTIC event in 2022.

·      CP Racing took overall victory at last year’s Hankook 12H KUWAIT, securing the GT Continents Trophy in the process. Curiously, this marked the American team’s second overall win with CREVENTIC in three starts, Charles Putman, Charles Espenlaub, Shane Lewis and Joe Foster having also taken CP Racing’s first-ever outright win five months earlier that year in Portimão.

·      European Rallycross champion Andreas Bakkerud made his third CREVENTIC start of 2022 in Kuwait, and secured his second class podium of the year with Lionspeed Racing.
