JJ Motorsport will return to 24H SERIES competition after a four-year hiatus at next week’s Hankook 12H MUGELLO, and has confirmed it will run the full European season thereafter.

The Belgian team thus becomes the 41st entrant for the 2022 Hankook 12H MUGELLO on 25-26-27 March.

JJ Motorsport last entered a BMW M235i Racing Cup for the 2018 Hankook 12H SPA-FRANCORCHAMPS in 2018, securing the final spot on the podium in CUP1 with American teammates Paul Dubinsky, Rob Gill, John Landrum and Britain’s Alastair McEwan. One year prior at the same event, the Belgian team took CUP1 victory with Omani trio Mansoor Hamad Al Haijri, Mahmoud Mohd Al Khalef, and Mansoor Hamad Al Haijri.

Now, in a collaborative effort with Team ACP-Tangerine Associates, JJ Motorsport will compete for European championship honours in the GT4 category with a new BMW M4.

“We first drove together with JJ Motorsport at the [Hankook] 24H BARCELONA last year, we all felt that it would be nice to do something together in the future,” explains Wim Spinoy, who will race for the team in Mugello. “Catesby Jones and his American race team – Team ACP – Tangerine Associates – competes in several USA series but had no ‘home team’ in Europe. I was racing already for four years in Belcar, DMV/GTC, GT4 Europe, the Le Mans Cup and CREVENTIC’s 24H SERIES without a real ‘home team’ and JJ Motorsport’s Jan [Horemans, JJ Motorsport team owner] was looking to expand his program on an international scale.

“It made sense for all parties to team up and we are very excited for what the future holds. Our goal is to win the GT4-class European title in the 24H SERIES and we’re looking forward to a long future together”

Spinoy will compete alongside American compatriots Catesby Jones and Ken Goldberg in Mugello. Both Jones and Goldberg most recently competed at the 2021 season finale at Sebring, at which they finished 3rd in GT4, and were also part of Team ACP’s TCX-class winning line-up at the 2020 Hankook 24H DUBAI.

The Hankook 12H MUGELLO also marks the latest collaborative effort between JJ Motorsport and principal partners VEIDEC, in deference to whom the #421 dons a vibrant green livery.

“We’re very excited to announce the collaboration between JJ Motorsport and VEIDEC AB.” JJ Motorsport team owner Jan Horemans explains. “Since the start of VEIDEC in 1993, the Swedish company has played an active part in changing motorsports to become more environmentally friendly. Motorsports is a high-tech laboratory, a test bench to develop products under the most enduring conditions there are, and if it works on the racetrack, it works for your workshop.”

Following the Hankook 12H MUGELLO, JJ Motorsport will thereafter compete ‘at home’ at the returning Hankook 12H SPA at the vaunted Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps on 22-23-24 April before heading to the Hankook 12H HOCKENHEIMRING in Germany on 13-14-15 May.

The 24H SERIES’ European season continues after a summer break at the Autódromo Internacional do Algarve in Portugal on 8-9-10 July and at the Circuito de Barcelona-Catalunya in Spain on 9-10-11 September.
