Former 24H SERIES Continents SP3 Teams’ champion CTF Performance has expressed an interest in competing at both this year’s Hankook 24H BARCELONA and the Hankook 24H DUBAI with a view to completing the full 2022 campaign.
Former 24H SERIES class champion CTF Performance has expressed an interest in making a full-time return to the 24H SERIES powered by Hankook in 2022 with one, and perhaps two, Ligier JS2 R following a planned series return this September at the Hankook 24H BARCELONA.
The French team, established in 2011 by Aurélien Sire and Guillaume Revenu, competed in a part-campaign with LAMERA-CUP in the 24H SERIES in 2018, the highlight of which was three consecutive class pole positions and an SP3-class victory at that year’s Hankook 24H PORTIMAO en-route to the SP3-class title in the 24H SERIES Continents. CTF Performance is now eyeing a series return on 3-4-5 September at the Circuit de Barcelona Catalunya and also has next year’s Hankook 24H DUBAI “in its sights”. If successful, this would mark the team’s first start since the 2018 Hankook 24H COTA USA and its first race start in the 24H SERIES with a Ligier JS2 R, hitherto the domain of compatriot Nordschleife Racing.
CTF Performance has confirmed though in an official Ligier Automotive press release that this year’s Hankook 24H BARCELONA could well be the start of an advanced campaign in the 24H SERIES. The team’s Ligier will compete with a newly updated ‘endurance kit’.
“We're a team that's absolutely passionate about endurance,” explains CTF Performance team manager Aurélien Sire. “Our aim is to combine [the Ligier European Series] with the 24H SERIES. The calendar is ideal for this as it enables us to carry out post-race revisions and then prepare for the 12 or 24-hour races that are much more demanding on the car. We can't wait to discover the Ligier JS2 R with its endurance kit at the [Hankook] 24H BARCELONA. We're still looking for two drivers to take on this adventure alongside us. It'll be great preparation for the 2022 season!
“It's a programme that suits the Ligier JS2 R down to the ground as it offers unbeatable value in terms of the ratio between racing and cost!”
Though team regulars Nicolas Béraud and Fabien Delaplace, both of whom were part of the team’s winning line-up at Portimão in 2018 alongside Laurent Piguet and Gilles Poret, are expected to compete at the Hankook 24H Barcelona, CTF Performance has yet to confirm its drivers for the event.
With five weeks to go until the event, more than 30 entries have already been registered for the Hankook 24H BARCELONA on 3-4-5 September, with interest expected to increase yet further in the interim.
