Britain’s Barwell Motorsport is set to run three former outright winners of the Hankook 24H DUBAI and a brand-new ‘Black Bull’ livery on its Lamborghini Huracán GT3 at the 2022 24H SERIES season opener.
Barwell Motorsport has confirmed the four-driver line-up, as well as the ‘Black Bull’ livery for its Lamborghini Huracán GT3, it will run at the 2022 Hankook 24H DUBAI.
Barwell will make its first start at the Hankook 24H DUBAI since 2020, at which the British outfit led the most laps of any team – 58 – and finished the rain-shortened event 6th overall. Prior to that, Barwell was also the outright winner of the Hankook 24H BARCELONA on its previous series start in 2019.
At the 2022 24H SERIES season opener, Adrian Amstutz, Rolf Ineichen and Rik Breukers will team Lamborghini factory driver Mirko Bortolotti at the Dubai Autodrome. All four drivers boast an impressive record at the Hankook 24H DUBAI. Amstutz and Ineichen took victory at the event with Stadler Motorsport in 2014, while Breukers helped Car Collection Motorsport secure the overall win in 2019. Bortolotti meanwhile has twice set pole position for the Hankook 24H DUBAI, and finished 3rd overall in 2018. Also with Ineichen!
Moreover, the quartet have previously competed together at the Hankook 24H DUBAI, Amstutz, Ineichen, Breukers and Bortolotti having placed 4th overall at this year’s event with GRT Grasser Racing Team.
All four will drive Barwell’s newly re-livered Lamborghini Huracán GT3. In contrast to its previous bright green livery, the new all-black colour scheme pays reflects the British team’s principal sponsor, Black Bull blended scotch whisky. The Lamborghini will also boast decals from the team’s event sponsors Amstutz Produkte and Bio-Circle.
“We are hugely excited about our 2022 Dubai prospects,” team manager Mark Lemmer explained in an official team release. “We know the car goes well there and the driver line-up is very strong and proven. Adrian is already a long-standing successful part of the Barwell family of course, Rik has driven for us before at the Spa 24 Hours and claimed a Silver Cup podium, and it’s great to welcome Rolf and Mirko to the team. Bortolotti is a Lamborghini legend, and it will be very exciting to see what he can do in a Barwell car.”
Barwell Motorsport is one of three teams to register a Lamborghini Huracan GT3 for the Hankook 24H DUBAI alongside ARC Bratislava and former 24H SERIES Continents Overall GT Teams’ champion, Leipert Motorsport. The latter has also entered a Lamborghini Huracán Super Trofeo in the GTX class.
