‘Put a star in your car’ greenlit for TCR SPA 500

News | July 19, 2019

The new initiative aims to encourage yet more A-list drivers to register for the inaugural, touring car-exclusive TCR SPA 500 on 3-4-5-6 October.

For the inaugural TCR SPA 500 on 3-4-5-6 October, race organiser CREVENTIC will debut a brand new ‘put a star in your car’ initiative for the touring car-only endurance event.

Teams with at least one confirmed driver holding a Gold or Platinum super licence in their line-up will receive 500 entry tickets – valued at 25 euros apiece - for the TCR SPA 500 absolutely free, to be distributed among the team’s sponsors, partners, guests and fanbase at the team’s discretion.

Interest in the TCR-exclusive event continues to grow, with 38 cars and over 30 teams from more than 15 different nationalities already confirmed to compete at the 7.004km Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps in early October. The 500-lap event – set to last up to 23 hours, uninterrupted – marks the first time in close to two decades that the spotlight has been shone on touring car endurance racing in the Stavelot region. An historic enough occasion in itself, CREVENTIC, together with TCR International Series promoter World Sporting Consulting (WSC), feels the new ‘put a star in your car’ program could bolter the already impressive line-up yet further.

“The TCR SPA 500 are set to be the crown jewel in the world of TCR racing,” explained CREVENTIC’s Ole Dörlemann. “This makes the race appealing for professional drivers and PRO-line-ups to join in for the overall victory. We have created a separate PRO-category for professional driver line-ups. Line-ups in this category may have two Gold, Platinum or Superlicense holders with no further restrictions; A good opportunity for teams and drivers to bring home victory.”

Notable names have already started to appear on the entry list, including British Touring Car Championship legends James Kaye and Vincent Radermacker, World Touring Car Champion stalwart Tom Coronel, and Will and Henry Neal, sons of three-time British Touring Car Champion, Matt.
