Two-time 991 Teams’ champion Porsche Lorient Racing will make its return to the 24H SERIES at this weekend’s Hankook 12H MUGELLO, doing so with two brand-new Porsche 992 GT3 Cups.

The Lanester-based outfit has regularly run two 991 generation – including the update evolution – in the 24H SERIES since 2015, taking eight class wins in that time as well as the 991 Teams’ championship in 2018 (‘Europe’) and 2019 (‘Europe’ and ‘Continents’). Porsche Lorient Racing last competed with its #911 911-II Cup at last year’s Hankook 12H CIRCUIT PAUL RICARD, fittingly, taking its third class win at the event.

Porsche Lorient Racing is also a former category winner of the Hankook 12H MUGELLO, having taken victory at the event in 2019.

Having acquired two brand new Porsche Cup cars during the off-season, the former champ will now compete alongside Red Ant Racing (the Belgian team has also entered two Porsches), HRT Performance, and the Orchid Racing Team in the ‘992’ category at the Autodromo Internazionale del Mugello with a potential view to completing the full European season.

Team patriarch Frédéric Ancel, who also won the 991 Drivers’ championship in 2018 and 2019 (the latter alongside Jean-François Demorge), will lead the line-up in the #911 entry with Pascal Gibon, Ludovic Loeul and Hervé Tremblaye. Demorge meanwhile will compete in the sister #912 with Philippe Polette, Frederic Lelievre and Gilles Blasco.
